The deputy head of Mission of the Chinese Embassy, Pang Chunxue, met the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leadership on Sunday to discuss the current political situation and convey that China wants political and economic stability in Pakistan.
Pakistan’s PML-Q leaders praised China’s international, regional, and defense cooperation with Pakistan. They also stated that Pakistan has always had cordial relations with China, which Pakistan appreciates and cherishes.
“China wants political and economic stability in Pakistan,” Chunxue was quoted as saying in PML-Q’s official statement.
Both sides discussed the current political situation in Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and bilateral relations during the meeting.
The meeting takes place at a time when political unrest in Pakistan is at an all-time high, with opposition parties filing a no-confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan, claiming to have the necessary votes against him.
Since the no-confidence motion came under the limelight, everything else has taken a back seat, including the weekly federal cabinet meetings where key decisions were taken almost every week.

Pakistan is also hosting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Meeting of Foreign Ministers on March 22 and 23 and the foreign ministers would be in attendance at the March 23 parade. The foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the opposition parties to cooperate with the government in holding the OIC meeting as it was being held in Pakistan after a long time. “I humbly request the leaders of all opposition parties to cooperate in holding the OIC meeting and do not disturb it,” he said.
Both sides are gearing up to show a majority in the National Assembly. However, it is not decided yet when to call the session. Meanwhile, the entire country is waiting to see how the no-trust motion will turn out!
