Current Political Situation in Pakistan: China Says CPEC Will Be Unaffected

Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, said on Wednesday that all parties in Pakistan can work together to promote national development and stability.
“As an ironclad friend of Pakistan, We hope all parties in the country can stay united and uphold national development and stability,” Zhao Lijian said in response to a question about the current political situation in Pakistan after the no-confidence move was blocked against PM Imran Khan.
“China always followed the principle of non-interference in other countries domestic affairs,” he said.
“History has proven once again that no matter how the international landscape may evolve, how our respective domestic situation may change, China and Pakistan relations will always stand unbreakable and rock firm,” He mentioned while emphasizing China and Pakistan as all-weather strategic cooperative partners.
“We believe that the China-Pakistan overall cooperation and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) construction will not be affected by the political situation in Pakistan,” the spokesperson further added.
Meanwhile, the verdict of the suo motu case related to National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling blocking the vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan will be announced today at 7:30 pm. A five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Munib Akhtar, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, is hearing the case.
