As Bollywood blockbuster Hera Pheri completed 21 years since its release, the film’s lead actors took a trip down memory lane. Suniel Shetty was the first to share his thoughts on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

“No wonder we underestimate how quickly time flies. It seems like I blinked and 21 years went by. What a film we made,” he wrote, while tagging the remainder of the cast members in his post. “Missing OmPuri ji very dearly today,” added Shetty.

Akshay Kumar, who essayed the famous Raju in the comedy franchise, wasted no time in responding to Shetty. He replied with, “Agreed! Even we didn’t know back then what a film we were making, each scene better than the other. Especially love this one: dhoti. The genius of Priyan sir and epic dialogues by the late Neeraj Vora.”

Hera Pheri will always remain a fan favourite, courtesy its memorable dialogues, ranging from Utha re le baba utha le, mere ko nahi re in dono ko utha le to Ye baburao ka style hai to Pehle mere ko ye samjha ke isko samjhana kya hai.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri also featured Tabu and Om Puri in pivotal roles. The first installment was followed by a sequel, Phir Hera Pheri in 2006 and fans of the classic continue to demand a third film in the hit saga.

Talking about the same to the Times of India, Paresh Rawal, who left the audiences in fits with each passing film, said, “It must happen and it will. We don’t get to see these kinds of characters and films coming more often. We should keep such franchises alive. And I feel this is the best time to do comedy and bring joy to others.”

Speaking about his famous Baburao character, Rawal added, “It would be interesting to put Baburao against different backdrops to see how he excels. I think it is a unique character in all aspects. He has all the qualities in him. He has an RK Laxman and Chaplin kind of characterisation.”
