The joint opposition’s efforts to cajole key government allies to the centre and province bore fruit eventually to topple the PTI regime on Tuesday as MQM-P, PML-Q and BAP decided to stand with the Opposition, Geo News reported.
The atmosphere of uncertainty and political temperatures in the country continue to rise as the opposition has tabled a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
First, around 24 lawmakers announced to vote in favour of the no-trust move and dissociated themselves from the ruling party. But now, even after attempts to muster the support of coalition partners, the government fears losing the support of its allies.
According to sources, three major coalition partners of the government, MQM-P, PML-Q and BAP, have decided to part ways ahead of the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
As per sources, all three allies of the government, including two MNAs of GDA, will soon [expectedly till March 25] announce to join the Opposition in the campaign to oust PM Imran Khan.
Sources privy to the matter said that the coalition partners of the PTI-led government will announce their decision collectively at the Chaudhry brother’s home in a press conference.
Government allies are devising their strategy to announce their decision about supporting the opposition, however, allies have yet to confirm the reports.
‘Allies no more with PTI,’ Fazl claims after meeting MQM-P in Karachi
Earlier, on Tuesday, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed that the ruling PTI’s allies were no more with the government after meeting with MQM-P in the metropolis.
“They (MQM-P) will announce that they are with us in a day or two […] after meeting the MQM-P leadership, I am completely satisfied that the no-confidence motion will be successful,” the PDM chief said.
Asif Ali Zardari assures MQM-P of ‘implementing’ whatever two parties agree on
Later, former president Asif Ali Zardari has assured MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui that whatever the party agrees with PPP, it will be implemented, sources told Geo News.
Sources said that PPP co-chairperson Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had a telephonic conversation with the MQM-P leader.
According to sources, the former president asked the MQM-P leader whether they had made a final decision on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Zardari told the MQM-P leader that he had asked him to remain in touch with him and Bilawal. At this, the MQM-P leader replied that he would.
GDA assures Imran Khan of complete support
On the other hand, on March 15 the GDA had assured Prime Minister Imran Khan of their complete support against the opposition’s no-trust move.
GDA leader Ghous Bux Mahar told the media that the Prime Minister in his meeting with the party leadership presented his stance to us, however, we have assured PM Imran Khan of our complete support for the no-trust move.
