The first gas supply from the Tipu compartment of the Mari gas field’s “Goru B” reservoir has begun, according to Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL).

According to a statement released on Monday, approximately 20 mmscfd of pipeline quality gas will initially be supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) after processing at MPCL’s newly constructed Sachal Gas Processing Complex (SGPC) via a newly constructed 25-kilometer cross-country gas transmission pipeline.

Meanwhile, work on the other phases of the project is ongoing, with a further 90 mmscfd of gas expected to be added to the SNGPL network next year.

“MCPL is glad to announce the first gas production from the Tipu compartment of the “Goru-B” reservoir, as well as gas production from a recently constructed Sachal Gas Processing Complex – (previously known as GTH Gas Processing Facilities,” according to the statement.

The introduction of new gas is also a demonstration of our actual commitment to expand domestic production, according to Mari Petroleum CEO Faheem Haider, who added that the project will raise total gas production in the country by 6%.
