Pakistan and Turkey Pledge To Work Together To Combat Illegal Immigration and Human Smuggling

Interior Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Ahmed Rasheed held a video call with Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu to discuss various issues of mutual interest between Pakistan and Turkey. The ministers discussed several issues, including regional peace, illegal immigration, human trafficking, and various mutual interests, per sources. Both the ministers invited each other on a visit to their countries.
Sheikh Rasheed stated that the relations between Pakistan and Turkey are old and brotherly and have the same opinion over the issues faced by the Muslim Ummah. He appreciated Turkey’s cooperation in assisting Afghanistan in preventing humanitarian catastrophe. The Minister further stated that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is regarded as a respected and valued Muslim leader in Pakistan. Rasheed guaranteed his Turkish counterpart that action will be done against human smuggling and illegal immigration, saying, “Pakistan has a zero-tolerance policy against anyone who is involved in these actions.”
Pakistan and Turkey are ‘brother’ Islamic countries, said Erdogan, adding that he is proud of the mutual relations between the countries. He emphasized the importance of improving relations amongst the interior ministries. The Turkish minister said that Better relations between countries could help fight issues and stated that illegal immigration and human trafficking create social and political issues. He said that a collaborative effort will benefit in the prevention of such crises.
