The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman convened a meeting of the anti-government coalition in Islamabad on Tuesday (today), a day after PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari lashed out at the Opposition alliance.
According to sources, the meeting will be held at JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence.
Representatives of eight opposition parties have been invited to the meeting, whereas the PPP and the ANP were not extended an invite.
The PPP has announced that it will resign from of all posts of the PDM, after it was issued a show-cause notice by the Opposition alliance for seeking the Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) support in the election for the Senate leader of the Opposition post.
Meanwhile, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz had said that the decision to issue show-cause notice was taken by the PDM and not by a particular party.
She said it was up to the JUI-F chief, who is also the president of the PDM, to decide how he wants to proceed on the response by the PPP chairperson to the show-cause notices.
“Maulana will respond to Bilawal Bhutto’s letter, will sit in PDM and decide the next course of action,” she added.
Besides, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while responding to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s press conference, had said that if the show-cause notice has been torn and thrown away, then his answer to the party is “goodbye.”
“Any party that goes out of its way cannot stay in the PDM,” the former prime minister had asserted.
