Student kills teacher in Machete attack

A student in Prague killed a secondary school teacher with a machete on Thursday and was apprehended, according to police and officials.

“Before midday, the perpetrator attacked a teacher with a machete” (1000 GMT). In a tweet, police added, “Unfortunately, the teacher died in the attack.”

The assailant fled after leaving the machete at the crime scene, prompting authorities to dispatch hundreds of policemen and a helicopter to track him down.

Education Minister Petr Gazdik said the instructor was “assaulted by his pupil,” and that he and the teacher had a falling out after the student “failed” in class on Wednesday.

The culprit was “discovered and detained,” according to police.
