The cat’s finally out of the bag. Teaser for Umro Ayyar: A New Beginning has just dropped and it answers so many of our questions. The ensemble film is set to present a universe of its own and this universe is occupied by none other than Usman Mukhtar, Sanam Saeed, Ali Kazmi, Adnan Siddiqui, Simi Raheal, Manzar Sehbai, among others.

Narrated by Hamza Ali Abbasi, the teaser begins with an introduction to the end – the end of times. “Times are changing and the earth has entered its final orbit,” it declares, with a look at Mukhtar’s character. A simple man who seems to be leading a simple life, Mukhtar appears nothing out of the ordinary, until of course, everything around him changes.

The clip ventures into a land far, far away, one that is dark and reeking of death. Cutting to Mukhtar, it warns that there is still hope: “Andheron mein rehne walon se kehdo, ke aik nayi subha tulu hone jarahi hai (Inform those living in the darkness that a new sun is about to rise).” The teaser then shows Siddiqui’s character handing over a talisman – one that has repeatedly been promoted as Umro Ayyar’s insignia – to Mukhtar.

The narration then urges one to look deeper inside before the teaser ellipses into Mukhtar’s transformation. After having introduced the hero, it shows glimpses of dark powers and villains. It also offers glimpses of potential comrades, including Saeed and Kazmi’s characters. The entire scenery shifts, presenting a world that is reminiscent of the realms in Mortal Kombat.

There is rage, rumble and uncertainty on the face of the characters as they train and triumph. Towards the end, Mukhtar’s Umro Ayyar is truly born as he screams into existence, bearing new skin for a mission.

The film’s description reads, “In a realm of enchantment, where legends reside. Where good clashes with evil, heroes will rise. Where ancient lore echoes, tales come alive. Embrace the magic and let your spirits thrive.

Umro Ayyar is a prominent character from the beloved Dastan-e-Amir Hamza, a collection of Urdu stories written by Ghalib Lakhnavi in 1855, showcasing elements of magic, adventure, and intrigue. A film by VR Chili Production, Umro Ayyar: A New Beginning is directed by Azfar Jafri. While the project’s release date remains undisclosed, its intriguing premise and teaser make it a highly anticipated cinematic experience.
